Mission Statement: The mission of the Stokes Volunteer Center is to mobilize people and resources that provide for the development, organization and promotion of volunteerism in Stokes County, NC. The goal of the Stokes Volunteer Center is to match community members with service opportunities to enhance the quality of life in Stokes County.

Urgent Volunteer needs:

COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSESSMENT: Healthy Carolinians is sponsoring a county survey to assess the health needs and  health status of Stokes County.  On August 21, 22 and 23 -they need 10 teams of 2 people per team (20) to go door to door and take the survey.  If you can help with this, please let us know ASAP!   posted 5/15/08 contact Angie Cullen or Becky Wood 593-5370.

Coming Up 

NOW ENROLLING for 2008-2009 School Year:  FREE Preschool for 4 year olds- Stokes  Partnership for Children collaborates with community agencies to administer the More at Four Program designed to give 4 year old children a high quality early childhood education at no cost to the parents.  Eligible children must turn 4 years old on or before August 31st.  Priority is given to children not presently in childcare, children from low-income families, children with special needs, children who are limited or non English speaking and children whose parent/legal guardian is an active duty member of the military or National Guard or a Reserve Unit of the armed forces.  Call Shannon Cox at 336-985-2676 or 800-559-5606 or www.stokespfc.com for more information.
